We all know how daunting cooking for yourself for the first time can be. There’s 10 different types of potato in the shop, 5 types of knives in your kitchen and the recipe is calling for an ingredient you have never heard of in your life.

In this section, we will share with you some tips to make that process a whooooole load easier!

Shopping

The first and most important step – gathering your tools and ingredients.

1. Never shop on an empty stomach.
2. Always bring a shopping list.
3. Walk around the shop to get yourself acquainted with all the different products and sections.

Cooking

Once you have braved Aldi on a Saturday morning and survived, the true fun begins 😉

1. Prep all your ingredients and tools ahead of hand.
2. Preheat appliances if needed.
3. When cooking, measure with your heart. When baking, measure with actual tools.
4. Timers are handy but you can also test if food is ready by cutting it in half, feeling the texture or having a little nibble.
5. Wash your hands after handling any sort of raw meat.
6. Store all foodstuffs at the correct temperatures.
